Before leaving the house I say to my kiddo "I love you", he says "I love you more", I respond: "No, I love you more", he disputes. Finally, I say, "We love each other more than we can imagine". Then I leave, hoping to capture something beautiful, something that makes the effort worthwhile. I drive alone, feeling a mix of loneliness and joy.
